Raw Food Recipe for Babies

Lovely things those smoothies! We’re currently out of hemp seed so we have been using organic coconut shreds for our base. Wait, I meant to say shredded coconut. Silly brain. Let me tell you, its a super way to go because you get that insoluble fiber and it fills you up and slows down sugar absorption! Think of shredded coconut as tiny packages of coconut oil, coconut butter and fiber all in one go. In fact with the Vitamix, I probably won’t be buying huge tubs or organic coconut oil because of how well it purees the shredded coconut.

Its been so great to have our little 9 month old baby get some really good nutrition in his growing body. He loves them smoothies! So cute to see him lick his chops when Papa comes in with the carafe!

Here is the latest recipe:

Sunny Boy Smoothie

1/2 Cup Spring Water
1.5 tbs chia seeds
2 tbs organic shredded coconut
1/2 organic banana
1 tbs durian (may omit for Jackfruit)
1 fresh organic non-frozen mango
1 Cup fresh non-frozen organic strawberries
Pinch of organic carob powder
Super light dusting of freshly ground cinnamon

Put the chia seeds and shredded coconut into the carafe. (Of course you can use a fresh young thai coconut with its water which trumps all.) Pour in Spring Water and add half a banana. Blend for at least 1 minute. This will puree and allow the chia to gel quite well. Add all the rest of the ingredients and blend till smooth. Make sure its room temp! You can wait or blend a little bit longer to warm it up. Also since it’s a smoothie, take a moment to gently swirl to help the air whipped into it, rise to the surface. Imbue with love. Last step, double the recipe because you will find yourself saying “One for baby…one for me…one for baby…one for me…lol”
Enjoy little babies! And big babies!
